Legal Information

Last updated: 3 November 2026. This legal notice applies to the website published under the name fleekery and to every page, form, document and service made available through it.

1. Who We Are and What Role We Play

fleekery operates a professional reference hub for live television production. The site gathers together practical guidance on studio equipment integration, dynamic camera technique, acoustic optimisation, lighting design and dependable production workflows for news programmes, interviews and live shows. It is a commercial publication: it exists both to share technical knowledge and to present services that visitors may choose to enquire about or buy.

When this notice says "we", "us" or "our", it means the business that operates the website, whose identity, registration and tax details appear in section 2. When it says "you", it means any person who visits, browses, submits a form on, or otherwise uses the website, whether as a working professional, a student, a prospective client or a casual reader.

The operator is the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 in respect of personal data processed through this website. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and which rights you can exercise. This legal notice does not replace that document; it sits alongside it and describes the commercial, contractual and intellectual property framework that applies to the site.

2. Legal Form, Registration Details, Tax Identifiers and Responsible Representatives

The operator of this website is a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales under the Companies Act 2006. A private limited company is a separate legal person: it owns its own assets, contracts in its own name and is responsible for its own debts, while the liability of its shareholders is limited to any amount unpaid on their shares. The company's affairs are conducted by its directors, who are its responsible representatives for correspondence about the website and its content.

2.1 Registration and statutory identifiers

  • Legal form: private company limited by shares.
  • Country of incorporation: England and Wales.
  • Company Registration Number: 13033970.
  • Register: the register of companies maintained by the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales at Companies House.
  • Principal activity: the supply, rental, integration and technical support of camera, lighting, audio and studio equipment for film, television and media production, together with related production and advisory services.

You can check the company's current status, filing history, registered office and officer appointments free of charge on the public Companies House register. If any detail shown on this page ever appears to conflict with the public register, the public register prevails. We update this page when a change is filed, but there can be a short interval between the filing of a change and the revision of this text.

2.2 Tax identifiers

VAT Number: 494089156. Where the site supplies goods or services to which value added tax applies, VAT is charged at the rate in force at the time of supply and a VAT invoice is issued. Prices shown on the website are, unless expressly stated otherwise, exclusive of VAT and of any delivery, installation, calibration or travel charges. Our VAT number is also displayed on every invoice we issue so that business customers can reclaim input tax where they are entitled to do so.

2.3 Regulated activity, licences and professional obligations

Supplying television equipment and providing production support are not reserved activities in the United Kingdom: no general licence from a regulator is needed simply to publish technical guidance or to offer production services. Certain individual activities are nevertheless regulated or need permission. Broadcasting and the provision of on-demand programme services are licensed or notified to Ofcom, and we do not operate a licensed broadcast service. The use of radio spectrum, including radio microphones, in-ear monitors and talkback systems, requires a licence from Ofcom or operation within an exempt allocation. Electrical installation work, work at height, the operation of lifting equipment and the carriage of dangerous goods are each subject to their own statutory regimes and to the guidance of the Health and Safety Executive.

Where equipment is hired or supplied, duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 may apply to the person using it. Nothing published on this website transfers those duties to us or removes them from you. Where content touches on rigging, truss loading, power distribution, lithium battery handling or working at height, it is general information only and must always give way to the manufacturer's instructions, the risk assessment for the particular venue and the advice of a competent person.

3. Registered Office and Available Contact Details

Our registered office, which is the address at which formal notices and legal documents may validly be served on the company, is MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford M50 2HE, United Kingdom.

You can reach us by email at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk or by telephone on 0161 295 4545 during normal United Kingdom office hours. If you prefer, you can use the contact form on our Contacts page. That form asks for your own contact details so that we can reply to you, and the message is delivered to the same mailbox as the address shown above.

3.1 What to include in your message

  • Your name, organisation and the best way to reach you.
  • The subject of your enquiry and any reference number you already hold.
  • For technical enquiries, the camera, lighting fixture, acoustic treatment or workflow you are asking about, with model numbers where possible.
  • For requests relating to personal data, the right you wish to exercise and enough detail for us to locate your records.

3.2 Service of legal documents and complaints

Formal notices, court documents and letters before action should be sent to the registered office address given above and marked for the attention of the company secretary or a director. If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please tell us first: most issues can be resolved quickly by email or telephone. We will acknowledge a complaint within five working days and aim to give a substantive reply within twenty working days.

3.3 Response times

We aim to reply to general enquiries within two working days and to data protection requests within the statutory period of one month, which may be extended by two further months where a request is complex or where we have received several requests from you. We do not charge a fee for handling a data protection request unless the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

4. Purpose, Scope and Intended Audience of the Website

The website exists to raise the standard of live television production practice. Its content covers studio equipment integration and signal flow, movable and robotic camera technique, microphone selection and acoustic treatment for difficult rooms, lighting set-ups for presenters and guests, and repeatable production processes for news programmes, interviews and live shows. It also describes services that we and our partners can provide, and provides a route for visitors to ask about them.

The website is aimed at adults working in or studying media production, and at organisations that commission production work. It is written for a United Kingdom audience, and the legal and regulatory references in it are those of England and Wales, with notes where Scotland or Northern Ireland differ. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of thirteen. If you are under eighteen, please use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

The website is published in English. Content may be read from anywhere in the world, but we do not represent that any product, service or statement on the site complies with the law of any country outside the United Kingdom, and we do not target consumers resident in jurisdictions whose mandatory consumer rules would be breached by the way the site is presented.

5. Access to the Website and Acceptable Use

You may browse the website free of charge. Access is provided on a temporary basis, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site without notice, including where we are carrying out maintenance on the infrastructure that supports it. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available or uninterrupted, and we may restrict access to any part of it, including where you have registered with us.

5.1 What you may do

  • Read, print and download short extracts of the content for your own personal, educational or internal business reference.
  • Quote a reasonable excerpt in a presentation, article or training session, provided you attribute it clearly to this website.
  • Send a link to any public page to colleagues or clients.

5.2 What you must not do

  • Use the website in any way that breaches applicable law, including the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and the Fraud Act 2006.
  • Gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, its databases or any connected system.
  • Introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs, ransomware or any other malicious or technologically harmful material.
  • Scrape, crawl or systematically extract content or underlying data, or use automated tools to harvest material at a volume that affects the performance of the site for others.
  • Copy substantial parts of the content onto another website, into a course, or into a dataset used to train a machine learning model, without our prior written permission.
  • Submit material through any form that is false, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, infringing or designed to mislead.
  • Use our name, trade marks or branding in a way that suggests an endorsement or partnership that does not exist.

If you breach these rules, we may take any step we consider appropriate, including issuing a warning, temporarily or permanently blocking access, removing submitted content, notifying the relevant authorities and, where we suffer loss, pursuing a claim for damages or an injunction.

5.3 Material you send to us

If you send us drawings, rigging plans, scripts, photographs, audio recordings or other material, you confirm that you own it or have the right to share it, and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and use it for the purpose of answering your enquiry and providing the service you have requested. You remain the owner of your material. We may need to share it with a supplier or a subcontracted engineer to complete the work; where that happens, we share only what is necessary.

6. Intellectual Property and Permitted Use of Content

All copyright and related rights in the website, including its text, graphics, diagrams, photographic images, audio and video material, layout and underlying code, belong to us or are licensed to us. The compilation of the site is protected as a database and the site's visual identity, names and logos are protected as trade marks. Nothing in this legal notice transfers any intellectual property right to you.

Subject to the rules in section 5, you may:

  • view the website and store it in the temporary cache of your browser;
  • print one copy and download extracts to a local hard disk for your own personal and non-commercial use;
  • share individual items with a third party for that party's personal use, provided that you acknowledge this website as the source of the material.

You must not modify copies of any material, use any illustration, photograph, diagram or video separately from the accompanying text, or use our content for commercial purposes without our express written permission. You must not remove or obscure any copyright notice or attribution. Third-party trade marks that appear on the site, including camera, lens, lighting and audio manufacturer names, remain the property of their owners and are used for identification and compatibility purposes only. Such use does not imply any affiliation with, or endorsement by, those owners.

If you believe that material published on this website infringes your copyright, trade mark or other right, please write to hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk with a description of the work, the location of the material complained of and evidence of your right. We will investigate promptly and, where a complaint is well founded, remove or amend the material.

7. Accuracy, Availability and Proportionate Limits on Our Liability

We prepare content with care and review the technical material periodically, but production equipment, firmware, standards and best practice change continuously. The content on this website is general information, not professional advice for a specific production. Before you rely on any figure, setting, workflow or recommendation, you should verify it against the manufacturer's current documentation, the venue's risk assessment and the requirements of the broadcaster or client you are working for.

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, nothing in this notice excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for any breach of the terms implied by sections 9 to 11 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights in relation to services and digital content, and nothing here affects them.

7.1 Limits that apply to the extent permitted by law

  • We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss of goodwill or loss of data arising from your use of the free content on this website.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, the website.
  • Where liability is not otherwise excluded or limited, our total liability in connection with the free use of this website is limited to one hundred pounds sterling.
  • We are not responsible for the accuracy of any figure you copy from this site into a plan, quotation or risk assessment without verifying it.

These limits do not apply to our paid services, which are governed by separate written terms and, where relevant, by the Terms and Conditions referred to in section 9.

7.2 Availability and force majeure

We do not warrant that the website will be free from errors or omissions, that defects will be corrected, or that the site or the servers that host it are free of viruses or other harmful components transmitted by third parties. We will not be liable for any failure or delay caused by an event outside our reasonable control, including failure of a hosting provider, power outage, network failure, cyber-attack, industrial action, epidemic or extreme weather.

8. External Links and Third-Party Content

The website may contain links to websites, applications and resources operated by other businesses, including manufacturers, standards bodies, training providers and suppliers. Those links are provided for convenience only. We do not control those destinations, we do not review their content continuously, and we do not endorse them or accept responsibility for what they contain, for their accuracy, or for the way in which they collect and use personal data. If you follow a link away from this site, you leave our environment and the terms and privacy policy of the destination site apply to you.

Where the website embeds third-party material such as a video player, a map or a scheduling widget, that third party may set cookies or similar technologies on your device when the material loads. Our Cookie Policy explains how the site-wide cookie banner works and how you can accept, reject or later withdraw your consent to non-essential technologies.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage caused by third-party material or by any reliance you place on it. If you consider that a link from this site leads to unlawful, misleading or harmful content, please tell us at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk and we will review it.

9. Privacy, Cookies, Terms and Payments: Where to Find the Detail

This legal notice is the shortest of several documents that together govern your use of the website. The following documents form part of the framework that applies to you. They are referred to here in plain text so that the documents themselves remain the authoritative versions.

  • Privacy Policy: sets out the personal data we collect, the lawful bases for processing under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, how long we retain information, who we share it with, how international transfers are safeguarded and how to exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent.
  • Cookie Policy: explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the site, distinguishes strictly necessary technologies from analytics and embed technologies, and describes the choices available through the site-wide cookie banner under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.
  • Terms and Conditions (also published as Terms of Use): governs the supply of our paid services, quotations, order acceptance, scheduling, change and cancellation, deliverables, acceptance, warranty and the remedies available to business customers.
  • Payment and Refund Policy: explains how invoices, deposits, card payments and bank transfers are handled, when a refund or credit note may be issued, and how the consumer cancellation rights set out in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply to distance sales.
  • Accessibility statement: describes the steps we have taken to make the site usable with assistive technology, the known limitations of those steps, and how to report an accessibility problem.
  • Acceptable Use: the rules in section 5 above, which apply to every visitor.

Where a conflict arises between this legal notice and one of the documents listed above, the more specific document prevails in relation to the subject matter it covers. In relation to your statutory rights, those rights prevail over everything else.

10. Applicable Law, Competent Courts and Consumer Dispute Rights

These terms and the use of this website are governed by the law of England and Wales. Subject to the paragraphs below, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with the website.

If you are a consumer resident in Scotland, you may bring proceedings in the Scottish courts; if you are a consumer resident in Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings there. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the European Economic Area, you may also rely on the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

Before beginning formal proceedings, we ask that you raise the matter with us directly using the contact route in section 3, so that we have a proper opportunity to resolve it. If we cannot resolve a dispute about a paid service, either party may propose that it be referred to an independent mediator or to a certified alternative dispute resolution provider. We are not currently obliged to participate in any particular ADR scheme, and we do not wish to give the impression that we are bound to one. Consumers may also seek free initial advice from Citizens Advice or a trading standards service. Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising any right to complain to a regulator, including the Information Commissioner's Office in relation to personal data.

11. Changes to This Legal Notice, and the Site-Wide Footer Summary

We may amend this legal notice at any time to reflect changes in the law, in our company details, in the services we offer, or in the way the website is built. The version published on this page is the version in force. When we make a material change we will alter the date shown at the top of the page, and where the change affects your rights significantly we will draw attention to it on the site or, where we hold your contact details for this purpose, by email. Continued use of the website after a change takes effect is treated as acceptance of the revised notice. If you do not accept a change, you should stop using the website.

This legal notice is published in English. This document, together with the documents listed in section 9, is the record we will rely on if the terms of use of this website are ever in dispute.
